Our firm was selected by the City of Santa Monica in an open bid process to renovate its existing park buildings in conjunction with new landscape improvements by Catherine Spitz and Associates. We worked with the city Childcare, Recreation, Enrichment and Sports Together (CREST) program to analyze their growing needs. The design solution involved opening up access to the clerestory for natural daylighting and installing a wall to divide private offices from open work areas as an alternative to costly systems furniture. The alternating pattern of polycarbonate panels is a proprietary system designed by our office and allows natural light from the clerestory to reach the private offices. Custom worksurfaces and cabinetry facilitate flexible collaboration. A reception and waiting area further accomodate families children registering.
