L’école Buissonnière

Program: Innovative bioclimatic school complex in Crete, Greece

Crete has always been a cultural mixing place between East and West, a remote but universal part of Europe. A whole multi lingual and cultural population under one common planted roof, “L’ecole buissonniere” is a French way to say that instead of going to school one will spend his or her day in the “bush”. Taking advantage of the Crete climate and of the multi cultural population of the school, learning under an olive tree might be a life experience, a way to rediscover our place in the bio system. Such new ways of teaching generates a new forms of architectural expression, a new paradigm between school and child. Our proposal is an efficient building as well as a dynamic interface between indoor and outdoor.
