Museum of Ethnography
Budapest, Hungary 2014
Architect: Studio Touraine
Client: Liget Budapest
Program: National Museum of Ethnography
This competition was asking for the development of 5 museographic buildings in a large Budapest park. The project located at the corner of the park was sheltering a Museum of Ethnography. We proposed a simple volume with a structural exoskeleton following the patterns of the first Hungarian alphabet. This system is both the structure of the building and a shading system for the museum. The exoskeleton also allows for flexibility of use of the interior space by freeing it of columns.
